Joop Brand Profile
The designer and founder behind this fashion and cosmetics brand is Wolfgang Joop. He was born on November 18, 1944 in Potsdam, Germany. Joop’s fashion career was launched in 1970, when he and his now ex-wife scooped the three top prizes in a German magazine fashion competition. This amazing triple victory brought him much success and recognition in Germany. He gained worldwide recognition in 1978 when he presented his first fur collection.

He has worked as and a fashion editor at the women’s magazine Neue Mode but left in 1971 to work as a freelance journalist and designer. By 1982 Joop successfully showed his first ready-to-wear women’s collection, followed by his first men’s collection in 1985. In 1987, he launched his first perfume collection.

Joop has received the following major awards; the Fil d’or in 1983 and the Golden Spinning Wheel from the European Silk Commission in 1984. Since 1997, Joop’s designs have been sold through Joop GmbH, based in Hamburg. Joop himself no longer owns any shares in the brand that bears his name.

The Joop! Aftershave Line

Joop! is well-known for its aftershaves. The classic Joop! Homme was launched in 1989. This spicy masculine fragrance conveys a sense of eternity and distinctiveness. It is fresh and cool with notes of bergamot and cinnamon. Joop! Jump was released in 2004. Joop! Jump has been inspired by frozen vodka and coriander leaves. It contains notes of rosemary, thyme, grapefruit, vodka, coriander leaves, heliotrope, tonka beans, vetiver and musk. It is recommended for everyday use. Launched in 2007, Joop! Go is a playful fragrance designed for the man who enjoys surprises and loves to have fun.

Dunhill Brand Profile
This first collection included motoring accessories such as car horns and lamps, leather overcoats, goggles, picnic sets and timepieces. The Dunhill collection also includes pipe, cigar and tobacco products including lighters and cigarettes. Today, Dunhill designs a wide range of products apart from fragrances and clothing, which include quality stationery, lighters and timepieces.

Alfred Dunhill is also a generous sponsor of golf tournaments, previously known as the Alfred Dunhill Cup, presently known as the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The Dunhill name is associated with discernment and tradition; it conjures images of quintessential English taste and style.

The Dunhill Aftershaves

All Dunhill fragrances, including aftershaves, are sold are manufactured and marketed through a licensing agreement by Procter and Gamble Prestige Products division. When Proctor and Gamble acquired the Wella Corporation in 1995, they also took over the Dunhill licence.

Dunhill’s masculine aftershave, Desire was launched in 1997. This exotic and revitalising scent has sensual infusions of fruits and wood, complete with notes of vanilla and musk. Another refreshing and masculine aftershave D by Dunhill has spicy notes with lavender and amber. Ideal for business or office wear, it carries a blend of jasmine sandalwood. Dunhill Man aftershave is subtle yet sexy and it is aromatic with a woody amber scent. Dunhill Pursuit has been created to celebrate the typical English spirit of adventure and travel. It is inspired by the woody, spicy smells of Africa. X-centric, launched in 2001 has blends of cypress, clary sage, grapefruit, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and green leaves. It has middle notes of freesia, rose, and lotus and base notes of cedar wood, guaiacwood, patchouli, amber, and musk.

Zegna Brand Profile
The two main people who still manage it are part of the fourth generation of the Zegna family; CEOs Ermenegildo and Paolo Zegna. The Zegna brand has represented high quality and excellent craftsmanship for generations.

Apart from producing suits for the Zegna label, they also make suits for high-end brands including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Tom Ford. While some Zegna suits are manufactured in the factory, many of the finest suits are still made-to-measure.

Zegna opened its first boutique in Paris in 1980, followed by another in Milan in 1985. There are currently over 140 shops and even more franchises selling both Ermenegildo Zegna and Zegna Sport. Lacoste Brand Profile
Lacoste was founded in 1933 by Rene Lacoste who was a talented tennis player in France. The story of how Lacoste the fashion brand was born is interesting. For the US Open Championships in 1927, Rene Lacoste designed his very own sports shirt; a white, short-sleeve top made of a light knitted fabric called ‘jersey petit piqué’ that was ideal to keep moisture and heat away from the body. It is this very shirt that made Lacoste famous not just in the tennis arena but also in the world of sports clothing. The crocodile logo was based on Rene Lacoste’s nickname of ‘le crocodile’, a name given to him based on a bet on an alligator-skin suitcase. After his retirement from tennis, Rene Lacoste put his energies into building his fashion empire by first producing tennis shirts. Lacoste gradually expanded and became a hugely successful business. The Lacoste logo is now a status-symbol worn by the affluent of society.

Today, there are numerous Lacoste boutiques worldwide. Lacoste is managed by the Lacoste family although since 2006, various companies have licenses to sell the Lacoste brand. For example, Procter and Gamble is license-holder for the fragrance line. Other brands such as Samsonite, Devanlay and Pentland Brands own the licence to Lacoste’s other range of products.
