The United Colours of Benetton was founded by siblings Luciano, Giulana, Gilberto and Carlo Benetton in 1965. Initially, it was a small clothing business, but has now expanded to include different products. Fragrances
The first fragrance released by Benetton in 1987 was ‘Colors’. The female version has notes of orange blossom, marigold and vanilla; the male counterpart uses mandarin, lime, vetiver and sandalwood.
‘Tribù’ was then introduced in 1993, a floral mix of ylang ylang, jasmine and geranium with tree moss and a woody base.
In 1997, the unisex ‘Hot’ and ‘Cold’ scents were released. ‘Hot’ is a fruity and floral scent, and ‘Cold’ is a contrasting delicate and oriental perfume.
Benetton’s first fragrance for children was ‘Funtastic’. ‘Funtastic Girl’ is a gentle, fruity perfume using currant, raspberry, strawberry and blackberry. ‘Funtastic Boy’ uses pineapple, tangerine, lime and grapefruit.
In 2002, four scents were released under the product line B. Clean. ‘Relax’ features gentle notes such as vanilla and lavender, ‘Soft’ is fruity and floral, ‘Energy’ uses grapefruit, gooseberry and rhubarb on an amber and musk base and ‘Fresh’ finishes the collection with bergamot, tangerine, sage and rosemary.
Benetton has also released ‘Paradiso Inferno’, with a male and female version using fruity and lively scents. The ‘Benetton Sport’ and ‘Benetton Puresport’ fragrances also use fresh and dynamic scents, designed for the active user.
B. United is a floral product line, and the ‘B. United Jeans’ male and female fragrances have unusual notes of peach, hyacinth and ivy flower.
The most recent fragrances for Benetton include ‘United Colors of Benetton’, which are inspired by the brand and its use of cotton. The three perfumes (male, female and unisex) are designed to be soft and comforting, with notes of neroli, mandarin, hawthorn and cotton blossom. ‘Cumbia Colors’, released in 2005, are original fruity fragrances, with scents of celery and aniseed. The ‘White Night’ fragrance is a floral and fruity fragrance and ‘Energy’, released in 2008, uses patchouli, rose and lily of the valley for an uplifting and feminine scent. The male version has notes of basil, pineapple, anise and coriander.
