Hermes is a French fashion brand founded by the designer Thierry Hermes in 1937 to produce leather goods. After his death, the company became a family venture as his son and grandsons took over. The firm was then passed down further to subsequent family generations, who expanded the business and its innovative reputation, making the first leather jacket with a zip in 1918.

The revolutionary invention of the zip further featured on the Hermes handbags which they developed in the 1920s and soon reached international renown with the likes of film star and model Jane Birkin’s using these Hermes products.
Currently, the so-called Birkin bag has the longest waiting list for any luxury accessory at six years. Hermes now manufacture furniture, silverware and a range of perfumes for men and women. Today, the Hermes brand has an annual turnover of over $1 billion and their designers in the past have outfitted such famous figures as John F. Kennedy, Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart.
Hermes started its creation of perfumes in 1951 and, over the last half-decade or so, have continued to produce new and interesting fragrances that appeal to men and women worldwide. Many of their perfumes can be recognised by their imaginative names that often evoke the aromas combined in the fragrance. Amazone for women, for example, balances floral and fruity freshness with the deeper and forceful aroma of vetiver.
Lines available for men and women are: Un Jardin après la Mousson, Eau d’Orange Verte, Un Jardin sur le Nil, Un Jardin en Méditerranée and Eau d’Hermès. For women, Hermes offer: Kelly Calèche, Eau des Merveilles, 24 Faubourg, Calèche, Rouge Hermès, Hiris, Amazone and Parfum d’Hermès. Just for men, there are: Terre d’Hermès, Rocabar, Equipage and Bel Ami.
