Her first show was held in 1972 when she presented her first small collection of womens’ clothes. In those days nobody could have predicted that within a few short years her name would be synonymous with perfume, and that she would have gone on to become one of the leading manufacturers of fragrances of her generation..

Laura Biagiotti launched “Fiori Bianchi” in 1982 and this was followed by “Roma” six years later. “Venezia”, “Laura” and “Venezia Pastello” soon followed. The best loved of all the Biagiotti fragrances is still “Roma”, however. Its flagon depicting ancient Rome is designed as a miniature marble column. “Roma” perfume is minty and floral. Released in 1998, many still enjoy the distinctness of this fragrance. Good for all occasions, “Roma” continues to delight the senses of the modern woman.

The latest fragrance is “Laura Biagiotti Donna” which is modern, sensuous and feminine. This is a scent for a strong, self-confident woman. The flacon was created in cooperation with Peter Schmidt, a top German designer.

He derives the feminine influences from his experiences of working for Monsoon and Accessorize, travelling and having studied fashion design. Besides perfume, the Matthew Williamson fragrance line also contains bath oils and body creams. In the early stages of perfume production, his fragrances were only available in a limited amount of stores across the UK but spread nationwide from 2006.

The first perfume ‘Matthew Williamson’ (though following ‘Incense’, released in 2002, which was collaboration with Miller Harris) is an intense, sweet, tropical scent. Reviews claim that although this fragrance is heavy and sweet, it will still attract a wider audience with its fresh and fruity notes of lime, ginger, vanilla, jasmine, cinnamon, rose, magnolia, gardenia and such. Furthermore there are slight tones of musk and sandalwood to soften the aroma and avoid it becoming intoxicating or dizzying.

The four fragrances ‘Incense’, ‘Jasmine Sambac’, ‘Lotus’ and ‘Warm Sand’ are a break-down of the original Matthew Williamson scent. They can be used in combination with each other to create a new unique and personalised smell for the wearer. However they are also distinct floral and summery scents which are beautiful all by themselves. ‘Incense’, for example, is derived from Matthew Williamsons’ experiences in India, Thailand and Bali and therefore blends oriental aromas such as saffron and amber with the components musk, sandalwood and lavender. Although this scent may appear slightly heavier than the characteristic ‘Matthew Williamsons’ its intense, deep and aloof musk is further enriched with softer wooden notes for a fuller aroma.

‘Jasmine Sambac’ as the name suggests is mainly composed of jasmine sambac with bursts of lemon, lime and bergamot. This breezy energetic fragrance is inspired by Williamsons travels to Ibiza. It is lively, fresh and natural.

Like ‘Jasmine Sambac’, ‘Lotus’ follows the fresh floral trend with its harmonic blend of cassia, magnolia, bergamot and lotus. Oriental and sexy, yet not too over the top, this feminine fragrance is suitable for both day and evening wear.

Finally ‘Warm Sand’ reflects a hot Moroccan day by exhibiting saffron and rust aromas accompanied by fresh ocean notes. A tropical touch of ginger lily and sandalwood completes this perfume with warmth and passion.

Utilising the initial Matthew Williamsons perfume, ‘Matthew Williamson Sheer’ was created. This fragrance is considered to be lighter though still containing the signature exotic and feminine smells found in all of his perfumes. Top notes include green tea, bergamot, amber, magnolia, ginger and jasmine with base notes of citrus, sandalwood, amber and musk. Softened by eastern lily, it avoids appearing heavy and intense and remains floral and fresh.

Unfortunately, Matthew Williamsons has not yet released a fragrance for Him. As his background and fashion lines prove, he prefers to focus on the feminine which is also reflected in his perfumes. The originality of ‘Lotus’, ‘Jasmine Sambac’, ‘incense’ and ‘Warm Sand’ relies on the idea that they can be combined and layered to create new scents which makes wearing his perfume all the more fun!

In fact, her designing abilities were so outstanding that her final year fashion collection was immediately bought by famous fashion stores including Browns, Joseph, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus. Stella McCartney graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in 1995.

Although she had only worked on 2 collections, she was appointed creative director of the house of Chloe in 1997. Her time at Chloe in Paris was a great success, both commercially and creatively.

Another design influence which she follows is her refusal to use leather or fur in her work; she is a committed vegetarian, like her mother before her. Stella McCartney was awarded the VH1/Vogue Fashion and Music 2000 Designer of the year award. Besides designing under her own label, Stella McCartney has also designed several popular collections for Adidas, Puma and Hennes.

Stella McCartney launched her own signature fragrance Stella in September 2003. Throughout Thierry Mugler’s career, his style has been edgy and contemporary. He likes solid, dominant, pointed styles. Unfortunately, Thierry Mugler’s fashion house did not thrive in the 1990s and the couture business had to be closed down in 2003. Today, it remains the most successful part of Thierry Mugler’s product lines. Thierry Mugler’s world of fragrances

Thierry Mugler’s most well-known perfume line is Angel, created for women in 1992. A romantic and delicious fusion of honey, chocolate and caramel mixed with notes of vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood. In 1998, Angel Innocentor Innocent was born, another fragrance for women. This is a lively scent with a fruity fragrance. Other popular women’s fragrances in this line include the floral Angel Garden of Stars.
