He formed the company with Sergio Galeotti, establishing a line of menswear now known worldwide for its clean lines and tailored look. Armani was soon joined by his sister and went on to develop a line of women’s clothes in 1975.
Armani soon achieved international success with his line of clothing and established several stores capitalising on the success of Armani. He developed new lines such as Emporio Armani in the 1980s and by 2000 he had branched out into related design areas, creating underwear, swimwear and make up.
Armani has become so well known that not only is it a household name but the fabulous designs are frequently worn by a myriad of celebrities at a variety of key events, including the Oscars. Icons have been styled by Giorgio Armani himself, including famously, Richard Gere in the title role for American Gigolo. This tradition of dressing acclaimed actors continues as Christian Bale was dressed for 2008 The Dark Knight.
It is no surprise then that Armani boasts a larger range of men’s toiletries than most of the other perfume brands which create more designs for women. The brand is associated more strongly with stylish men therefore stylish perfume in the form of Acqua di Gio Men, Attitude, Code Pour Homme, Emporio City and classic Armani which are all refined, subtle fragrances. Armani has produced the same range for women and included a softer, more floral fragrance called Diamonds.
